It is well established that superior locomotor capacity is an important factor conveying an evolutionary advantage. For our ancestors, which needed to hunt and avoid being hunted, a significant development of their skeletal muscles gave a strong advantage over those which were less “fit”. The question we pose here is whether an individual performing regular exercise, and thereby reinforcing his skeletal muscles, can pass these acquired improvements on to the following generation.
